Clinical Care

American Medflight employs only highly skilled, educated and compassionate registered nurses and paramedics to serve on its medical flight crews.  With one flight nurse and one flight paramedic serving on each mission, our medical teams possess the knowledge and expertise necessary to perform a wide range of highly-skilled medical functions during transport.

Registered Nurses

  • Minimum requirement of three years emergency or critical care experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • ITLS (or equivalent)
  • CEN, CCRN, and CFRN board certification (preferred within one year of hire)
  • APN/EMS-RN designation

Paramedics

  • Minimum requirement of three years emergency response experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • ITLS (or equivalent)
  • FP-C (preferred within one year of hire)
  • CCEMT-P (preferred within one year of hire)

Advanced Skill Capabilities

  • Invasive hemodynamic monitoring (multi-line)
  • RSI/PAI/PSA/Awake intubation capabilities 
  • Advanced airway management including surgical cricothyrotomy
  • Advanced 12-lead ECG Interpretation
  • Critical Care transport ventilator management
  • Central/Arterial Line Placement       
  • Needle/Tube Thoracostomy   

Clinical Care Quality

  • Progressive, evidence-based and researched medical protocols
  • Active medical direction
  • Clinical quality review process (Total Quality Management)
  • Ongoing education and skills lab training
